Adult and Community Services Grants

These grants will be covered by grant funding service level agreements. We will inform organisations about the circumstances in which we may terminate or change the funding arrangements. Normally we will give 12 months' notice that we intend to stop funding.

Purpose of our grant aid

This grant aid is to support our strategic objective to promote independence for all adults through providing opportunities which secure improvements for the well-being of individuals and communities. We support activities which promote active citizenship for disadvantaged groups and reduce social exclusion; which build community cohesion and better understanding between generations; and which are of countywide significance. This may be demonstrated by, for example the innovative quality of the project; the demonstration of new ways of working; the project's geographical impact; the potential audience; the scale of the project; the range of partners involved; or the project's contribution to the pattern of provision in the county and/or district.

Our assessment criteria

All applications must include a detailed proposal (see relevant toolkit.)

We expect all applications to demonstrate the following:

1. County-wide significance (strategic)
2. Developed with the full engagement with those it aspires to support
3. Identification of how it will contribute to delivery of the outcomes in Our Health Our Care Our Say (DH)
4. Potential for further development or follow-up from the project.
5. Opportunities for engaging with those experiencing social and economic deprivation or discrimination.
6. Clear aims and a plan for implementation which shows an awareness of best practice.
7. A clear plan for marketing, publicity, and communication targeting excluded groups and publicity.
8. A clear plan for a full project evaluation and documentation rep and dissemination of the learning where appropriate.
9. 'Matching' funds from other sources, such as the relevant district council(s), primary care trusts, and other income generation.
10. Evidence of how it will meet identified countywide or local need.
11. Satisfactory financial and managerial control in the organisation.

Projects demonstrating the potential for further development or longer-lasting public benefit are a higher priority than one-off projects.
