Why Join?

The Well-Being Programme was set up in Lancashire in September 2002, as part of a national programme run by Worklife Support. In the first year, 85 schools and services joined and the number has increased every year since then. We now have some organisations that have been working on the Programme for five years, as part of their long-term commitment to promoting staff well-being and creating and maintaining a healthy workplace.
The Well-Being Programme adopts a 'bottom up' approach, where staff themselves work together to determine the approach their organisation should take. This ensures ownership by staff and long-term sustainability of a healthy working and learning environment. Volunteer facilitators are nominated in each school or service and they receive a day's induction, followed by support to enable them to work with colleagues in identifying not only what they would like to change, but how they will achieve this.
The Well-Being Programme links to and supports school self evaluation, stress management, management of change, absence management, Healthy Schools, IiP , SEAL and other current initiatives.
