Park and Ride

Park & Ride

 

There are two Park & Ride sites in Preston: Preston PortWay which is situated close to Preston Docks, and Walton-le-Dale.

Walton-le-Dale Park & Ride

The 810 space Park & Ride is located at the rear of the Capitol Centre at Walton-le-Dale and boasts many special features:

Bus Services

The first service for the City Centre (Jacson Street) leaves at 0700 and then buses run up to every 6/8 minutes with the last departure at 1922.

Return services from the City Centre operate up to every 6/8 minutes until the last departure for Walton-le-Dale at 1930.
New service on Wednesdays - from 1922 buses operate a 15-minute service.  Last bus back from Jacson Street 2030.
On Sundays and Bank Holidays there is a 15-minute service from 1030.  Last bus back from Jacson Street 1721.

Services operate non-stop to and from the Jacson Street terminus next to the Harris Museum/Library in the City Centre with the exception of one inbound stop on London Road and one outbound stop on Queen Street

Bus Fares

The Return fare from the Park & Ride to Preston City Centre is £2.50 per person before 0930 (Monday to Friday).
After 0930 and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays the cost is only £1.20 per person.
Children pay 60p return at any time of day. Concessions are available to senior citizens and disabled passengers on production of a valid pass.

Special Fares

A Family Ticket is also available at the cost of £5.00 before 0930 and £3.00 after 0930 and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
A Family Ticket allows 4 persons travelling in the same vehicle to travel.

Regular travellers can purchase a 'Saverstrip' ticket for £22.50 which allows ten journeys for the price of nine.

These can be bought from the on-site kiosk. Payment can be made by debit/credit card at the on-site kiosk.

Getting to the Park & Ride

 


PortWay Park & Ride

The PortWay and Hartington Road Park & Ride service, situated close to Preston Docks, boasts many special features.

Bus Services

The first service for the City Centre leaves at 0700 and then buses run up to every 7/8 minutes until the last departure at 1922.

Return services from the City Centre (Lune Street) operate up to every 7/8 minutes until the last departure for Port Way at 1930.
New service on Wednesdays - from 1922 buses operate a 15-minute service.  Last bus back from Lune Street 2030.
On Sundays and Bank Holidays there is a 15-minute service from 1030.  Last bus back from Lune Street 1735.

The buses operate from the bus shelter on the Port Way site and stop on Fishergate opposite the railway station adjacent to the Fishergate Shopping Centre and then on Lune Street for the St. Georges Shopping Centre and the City Centre.

Customers using the Hartington Road car park will need to cross Strand Road to get to buses. Use the pelican crossing and please take care. The bus service is very frequent - if there is a bus at the stop do not be tempted to cross Strand Road against the red light, there will always be another bus along soon.

To return to the car parks passengers may board at Lune Street or Preston Railway Station (on Fishergate Hill).
