BOWLAND OPEN ACCESS PILOT STUDY

ACTION PLAN

The completed report is now available; the aim of which is to offer;

"A practical management guide to the implementation of new access to open country and registered common land"

The report centres on a pilot area within the Forest of Bowland AONB that reflects high recreational, conservation, agricultural and sporting values. The formation of a Steering Group reflecting such values and subsequent debates based on new legislation have led to broad based consensus across a range of themed issues.

A second aspect of this report offers a “Management Guide” to access planning, resources, techniques and costs required to practically implement open access on the ground.

If you would like a hard copy of the report please email us at countrysideservices@lancashire.gov.uk .

A Countryside Access Design Guide 2002 is also available from Scottish Natural Heritage costing £15.00
