Access

Lancashire Coastal Way - responsibilities extend from Cleveleys to Silverdale. Currently implementing a programme of replacing old finger posts along the route between Cocker Bridge and Carnforth.

North Lancaster Parish - Currently working on a new safe route, parallel to a busy country lane. This scheme will provide a circular route from the village, avoiding traffic. Location withheld at present due to sensitive stage of negotiations with landowner.

Conservation


County Council Sites - Management of habitats, to encourage species diversity. I am responsible for the sympathetic management of habitats at Warton Cragg Quarry, Scorton Picnic Site, Cinderbarrow, and several
Areas along the route of the Lancashire Coastal Way. I also assist Peter Dalton with the general management of Highfield Terrace Woodland at Carnforth..

Warton Crag Quarry - Species protection project, a joint venture with English Nature. We are giving some of natures rareties a helping hand.

Countryside Stewardship Scheme. ( DEFRA ). I am assisting other officers by preparing farm orchard restoration plans, which then form part of the Stewardship applications.

Saltcotes Ponds, Glasson Dock - I am supervising the creation of a new wetland area on an area owned by Thurnam Parish Council. The site will ultimately have some public access.

Parish and Community


Green Partnership Awards - Assisting schools and local groups with small scale environmental projects in Fylde, Lancaster and Wyre, in partnership with the District Councils, and United Utilities.

Parish Lengthsman Scheme - Working in partnership with the parishes of Bolton-le- Sands, Slyne with Hest, Nether Kellet, Over Kellet, Warton, Yealand Conyers, Yealand Redmayne in Lancaster District, and Myerscough & Bilsborrow, and Claughton on Brock in Wyre. I am supervising the efforts of two Lengthsmen and one Lengthswoman on behalf of these communities to improve the local environment and maintain the Public Rights Of Way network.

Thwaite Brow Woods Conservation Group
- Working with local people to manage this 14 acre woodland on behalf of Bolton-le-sands Parish Council. This is a long standing project, which has the twin aims of protecting and enhancing the sites importance to wildlife, and improving the public access to this valuable recreational resource.
