Countryside Officers

West Lancashire and Chorley

Main areas of work include:

Offering help and advice to community groups and individuals on countryside, based issues. For example assisting with rights of way improvement work, tree planting schemes, drystone walling etc. Working with the West Lancashire Canal Partnership to implement projects along the canal corridor in West Lancashire. Recent projects have included art work at Parbold and a picnic area at Moss Bridge.

Currently we are looking at the possibility of an arts based project at Halsal. The Canal Partnership actively encourages community groups to put forward ideas for projects along the Leeds Liverpool canal in West Lancashire.

Working on a pilot project for the Countryside Agency looking at access to the countryside for people with disabilities.

As part of this work I have been involved in putting together a draft policy document outlining the County Councils approach to these issues.

Developing a web based information system for schools.

Management of County owned sites such as Withnell Fold Local Nature Reserve.
