Education and Activity Days
Pepper Hill Barn Information Centre holds displays and exhibitions of Wycoller and the surrounding Countryside and provides information in the form of leaflets and booklets. The Centre is open at the weekend to the Public.
The Education Service
Based at pepper Hill Barn, Lancashire County Council and Groundwork
East Lancashire offer an Education Service to visiting groups. A wide variety
of activities are available. These are designed to be highly enjoyable whilst
meeting the needs of the national Curriculum. The activities range from pond
/ stream life exploration and mini-beast discovery to Earth Education, environmental
games and historical studies. A number of role play programmes have been developed
covering habitats, natural recycling and plant life cycles. The Country park
has its own orienteering course and tree trail. Sessions can be led by a member
of the Wycoller staff or, alternatively, groups can borrow equipment from the
Centre. With an indoor class room, lecture room, toilet facilities, kitchen
and display area Pepper Hill Barn offers the ideal base from which to explore
the Country Park. It is also a desirable venue for workshops, meetings and training
days. The lower floor of the barn is accessible to visitors using wheelchairs.
Events and Activity Days
Throughout the year, events and activities are organised at pepper Hill
barn and in the Country Park. From environmental arts and crafts to long distance
walks and easy rambles there is plenty to get involved in. The Park has been
the venue for outdoor theatre productions on a number of occasions. Events programmes
are available from County Information Centres and Libraries.
