Lancashire Rural Futures
Peregrine eye
Lancashire Rural Futures is a project which seeks to integrate rural business
development and environmental issues. It operates in the Forest of Bowland
AONB and the the districts of Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle,
Ribble Valley and Rossendale.
Lancashire County Council supports Lancashire Rural Futures and employs two
Ecological Advisors. Their role is to:
-
provide farmers and land managers with information about important wildlife
habitats and species;
-
offer land management advice;
-
offer advice on making applications for grant aid under schemes such as
Countryside Stewardship and the Woodland Grant Scheme;
-
undertake surveys to identify and monitor valuable wildlife habitats and
species;
-
help maintain the register of Biological Heritage Sites.
