2 Challenges and Opportunities

In this chapter we set out the challenges and issues we face and explain our choices and priorities for dealing with them. We demonstrate our commitment to national, regional and local objectives and show how we address our priorities with effective and often imaginative solutions.Finally we set out our future opportunities and describe how our plan will address our future.

We have already made great progress in delivering the first Local Transport Plan and have been successful in improving travel on many of the journeys across Lancashire. We will build on this foundation in the second Local Transport Plan and deliver a programme that will meet the Corporate Objective to make Lancashire a good place to live and work, now and in the future. We have worked through partnerships with all our stakeholders to determine local priorities and to develop programmes to address them effectively.
