Scheme Priority

All schemes that LCC undertake are prioritised in order of accident saving potential. Therefore we will concentrate our efforts in areas where there is already an existing high injury accident rate. This is in line with Government guidelines and our own Corporate Objectives.

There are tight guidelines in place to ensure that your signs do not cause or conceal a danger on the highway. This information is available in a special Temporary Signs Pack available for anyone who wishes to place a sign on or near a road to direct people to an event or show. A sign that is placed on the public highway without permission is liable to be removed at a cost to the persons responsible.

Parish Partnerships

It is necessary from a delivery viewpoint for the County Council to adopt a consistent approach to looking at Parish Council traffic and transport issues with immediate effect.

Gateway

The Partnership approach to managing these issues through a business plan structure is embodied in the County Council Traffic And Safety Division's Service Improvement Plan : The broad aims are to assist the Parishes in considering and prioritising traffic and transport concerns in their area, to enable Environment Directorate Officers to give a more effective and accountable service, and to encourage a constructive dialogue that will enable a better understanding of each others needs and policies.

It is intended that the business plans are to be reviewed annually.

H-Bar Markings

A H-Bar is an advisory road marking to cover driveway entrances and gateways. If you wish to apply for one you will need to firstly print out and complete this H-Bar Application form and return it to us. If your application is accepted we will require a cheque for £72 and then we can process your request.

School Safety

Accident Records

Every accident that gets reported to the police where an injury occurred is entered onto our accident record data that we can search through by area or date or type. This helps us to build up a picture of where the most dangerous sections of highway are. Accidents do not get registered on our files where no one is hurt and only property damage occurred.
