Presented by: The Walking Forward Theatre Company
Target Group: 16+
Toured: Spring 2004
This powerful Road Safety awareness play aimed at the 16+ age group has been performed to growing acclaim since its debut in 1997. It has had a marked effect on those lucky enough to have been part of the audience and has played to thousands of students and British Army personnel throughout the UK and Ireland.
Kaz, Lee, Steph and Vince are a group of friends enjoying all that life has to offer, a romance is blossoming, careers are planned, until a tragic accident blights all of their lives. A belligerent attitude towards car driving becomes the catalyst for this thought provoking drama.
The performance is dedicated to those who have suffered as a result of a road traffic accident and will continue to suffer until society realises the tragic game it plays in the quest for speed, one upmanship and convenience. Those at greatest risk are young drivers and therefore the company has developed the hard-hitting play aimed at the 16+ age group.
The hard hitting 50 minutes play is complemented by 'The Springer Show', a TV style debate live on stage lasting up to 30 minutes. The 'riotous' method of opening up the issues of the play and attitudes to passenger and driver responsibility brings a whole new definition to 'a workshop'. The audience and characters from the production certainly get a chance to let off steam - as you would expect from a 'Springer' experience!
