DID you know it takes 26 muscles to smile and 62 muscles to frown? Lancashire County Council’s Road Safety Group are encouraging motorists to accelerate their smiles per hour on the roads.
Smiling is a way of calming other motorists down or apologising for a driving error you might have made. According to the RAC Foundation, a smile can be a driver’s number one tool in avoiding road rage.
A recent survey, conducted by insurance company elephant.co.uk, found that nearly 20% of drivers admit to always singing while behind the wheel as it keeps them happy. They asked participants in the survey what their favourite driving tune was and Mr Brightside by The Killers topped the list followed by Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler.
We want to know what your top driving tune is and also what makes you smile while you are driving – is it the journey home on a Friday or listening to your favourite music? Fill in the questions below and send your answers back to us and we will enter you into a FREE PRIZE DRAW to win a £20 gift voucher of your choice.
To enter, send your answers on a postcard with your name and contact number to: Smiles per Hour, Road Safety Group, Guild House, Cross Street, Preston, FREEPOST PR 844 or email roadsafety@lancashire.gov.uk
Closing date Friday 1 st August
