DRIVE – ON TRAINING COURSE

Background

The Drive on course is available to anyone who wishes to address their driving awareness or who may wish to refresh their skills and be given updated road environment awareness and can also be offered to:

The Aim of the Course

To afford the opportunity for the individual driver to address his/her own particular driving concerns and be able to deal with them safely.

Objectives

At the end of the course the individual should have received appropriate training and information to help him/her deal with his/her own particular concerns.

Method

The course is delivered by Approved Driving Instructors who delivered the driver training for the Driver Improvement and Speed Awareness Courses.
They are all well trained in delivering training on a one to one basis and are able to deal with people with different abilities and needs.

The instructor collects the client at a mutually agreed place and the car is used as a classroom in order that valuable road awareness information can be discussed.

Ideally the client will drive around the area he /she is likely mostly to drive so relevant coping strategies for those roads can be given. In the case of a client having experienced a traffic incident, if local he/she may well wish to revisit the scene and discuss why it may have happened.

The client will have as much time to drive as possible with the instructor offering advice on safety, awareness and anticipation.
