Considerable investment has been made to ensure that the CIC network has the information and communications capability it requires to remain effective and efficient in today's rapidly changing world.
All CICs have fast Internet and Intranet access, enabling staff to quickly find answers to any question directed at them . This strategy also provides the capability to download leaflets, journey plans and timetables to enable information to be tailored to the user's exact requirements. In addition many of the Centres have touch screen computers located in windows or walls, to guarantee that information can be obtained even when the Centres are closed.
However, not all our developmental plans are in the area of Information Technology.
We are constantly updating and developing our range of merchandise, particularly the Lancashire leisure wear, that has proved extremely popular and has been sent to such far flung destinations as sun-kissed Dominica to the colder climes of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.
In addition, we recognise that our greatest asset is our staff and we are firmly committed to encouraging their personal development and offer on-going training covering all areas of their work from Customer Care to ECDL training, familiarisation visits to marketing.
Wherever possible, we respond to the demands of our customers and provide the services they require, and we will continue to maintain this customer focus as the service develops in the 21st Century, to ensure we remain at the forefront of information provision of Lancashire County Council.
